Patna University is the first University in Bihar. It is the eleventh (before freedom) and seventh (after freedom) oldest university in the Republic of India. It was established in 1917. Initially, it was established as an affiliating and examining body. But, on January 2nd, 1952, it was converted into a fully teaching-cum-residential university.
Patna University is situated on the bank of the Holy Ganga River. At present, there are eleven colleges affiliated with this university including Patna Science College, Patna (Arts) College, Patna Law College (Darbhanga House), Patna Women’s College, and Vanijya Mahavidyalaya.
